2023-10-08 16:56:59 New Tinux version 11.5 released with updates of the Falkon and Firefox web browsers.

Tinux From Scratch (version 11.5) is a new custom version of the Linux From Scratch book. Future versions of Tinux will be based on it. LFS itself is more and more headed into a direction, I am not comfortable with. So it is time to become independen and split off.

The different aim of TFS vs. LFS is listed here.

2023-05-26 12:24:24   Our Tinux Linux distribution is back in Rust and Firefox business. Also tested now is complete offline building, especially for LibreOffice, Rustc, and the dependencies needed Firefox.
2023-03-06 08:13:51 Tinux completely updated to version 11.3 (based on BLFS 11.3). Default and only full blown web browser is now Falkon only. It is a Chromium based browser from the KDE project. Firefox is dropped. Building Rustc as a dependency for it from source took 20 hours on a machine with 8 cores and 16 threads. Needless to say I don't buy the hype around that programming language. Rust is not a truly open source programming language, if you can't realistically build it from scratch (only with a binary blob). The compiler is slow and relies by default on dynamic loading of source libraries from the net with insufficient documentation to turn such features off.
2023-03-04 11:40:53 Tinux base system has been updated to the latest LFS 11.3 version. BLFS layer for 11.3 still has to follow. The default base system still points to 11.2.
